Achaari Chana Pulav





Ingredients

1 cup basmati rice

1/4 cup soaked and cooked Kabuli chana

2 onions sliced

1 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp KITCHEN KING MASALA or Biryani masala

1/2 tsp shahi jeera

2 cloves(lavang)

1/2 inch cinnamon(dalchini)

1 bay leaf

5-6 tsp ghee or oil

salt to taste

Chopped coriander leaves


For the masala:

grind 2 tbsp chopped onion and 2 tbsp pickle(I've used avakaya pickle)




Procedure

  • In cooker heat oil or ghee and put whole garam masalas and fry for 2 minutes

  • Add onion slices and saute for 5 minutes

  • Put the masala and fry for 3 minutes

  • Add all powders, rice and fry for 5 minutes

  • put the boiled chana, salt to taste, and 1 1/2 cups water and close the lid

  • After 2 whistles switch off the gas

  • Release the steam in between 2 times, lifting the weight

  • After opening the lid mix gently with a fork and garnish with chopped coriander leaves

  • Serve with any raita.
