Ajwain/ Carrom Seeds Tambuli

Ajwain is a common herb /spice that has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Ajwain with buttermilk is an excellent home remedy for digestive issues. This tastes yummy with hot rice in summer when served chilled. Try this simple, healthy, and aromatic recipe of ajwain.






Ingredients

1 tsp om kaalu/Ajwain/carrom seeds

5 garlic cloves

1 cup buttermilk or curd

Salt to taste


For the tempering:

1 tsp oil

1 tsp mustard

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

2 dry red chillies

Few curry leaves




Procedure

  • Peel the garlic cloves. Put the garlic and ajwain in a mortar pestle and crush it into a coarse paste.

  • Heat oil in a pan, and add mustard. Once the mustard crackles, add curry leaves, mustard and dry red chillies cut into pieces.

  • Saute for a second and add the crushed ajwain and garlic mixture.

  • Saute for a minute. add half a glass of water and salt to taste. Let it boil for 5 minutes.

  • Turn off the flame and let it become cool. Once it comes to room temperature, add buttermilk and mix well.

  • Add some more water to adjust the consistency according to your taste.

  • And your Tambuli is ready to serve with rice.
