Ambya Ghshi

This typical Konkani dish is prepared with a small variety of mangoes called GONT in Konkani. Mango is called AMBO in Konkani and any coconut based curry is called GHASHI.



Ingredients


4 mangoes of the small variety

Salt to taste

Jaggery to taste


For the masala paste;

In 1/2 tsp oil roast 3 red chillies,2 tsp urad dal till brown in color and grind with

1 cup fresh grated coconut, little tamarind into a little coarse masala


For the tempering:

2 tsp oil

1 tsp mustard

curry leaves


Procedure


  • Wash the mangoes and make 3-4 cuts on it

  • Put the mangoes in a vessel with 1 cup water and cook

  • When it is almost cooked add salt, jaggery, and masala and make it boil for 10 mins

  • Temper with the ingredients.
