Andhra Style Chilli Chicken

Andhra chilli chicken would be a great addition to a party menu as a starter / an appetizer or even as a side dish to rice varieties like pulao or biryanis or even as a side dish with rasam rice. Making this hot and spicy South Indian chicken starter is quite easy.





Ingredients


8 medium-size chicken pieces (with bones)

2 finely sliced onions

1 sprig of curry leaves

6-7 slit green chillies (You can add more if you want more spicy)

5 finely chopped garlic cloves

1 tsp soya sauce

3 tsp ghee or oil

Salt to taste

Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

2 tsp cornflour

2 tsp lemon juice

For the marination

4 tbsp curd

1 tsp turmeric / Haldi powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ginger garlic paste


To make paste

1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves

2 sprigs of curry leaves

1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds

Grind the above ingredients into a paste



Procedure

  • Wash chicken pieces and marinate with the ingredients mentioned. Keep aside for 20 minutes

  • Heat oil/ ghee put chopped garlic and fry till it turns light brown.

  • Add slit green chilies, curry leaves and fry for a minute

  • Drop-in onion slices and fry until they turn transparent

  • Now add the ground paste and fry for 5 minutes

  • Add marinated chicken pieces,1/4 cup water, and cook with a lid covered

  • Once the chicken is almost done add soya sauce, salt to taste and cook further for another 5-10 minutes

  • Mix cornflour with 2 tbsp water and mix with the chicken chilli, cook for 5 minutes or till it becomes thick

  • Garnish with lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves

  • Serve hot with hot rice or noodles.
