Andhra Style Mavinkayi Chitranna / Raw Mango Rice

Ingredients



1 cup cooked rice

5 tsp oil

2 tsp chana dal

1 tsp mustard

2 tsp urad dal

3 tsp peanuts

1 red chilli

Curry leaves

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

Salt to taste

Chopped coriander leaves


Ingredients to be ground:

In 2 tsp oil fry

2 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds

1/2 tsp hing / asafoetida

2 tbsp grated coconut

3 red chillies

3 tsp grated raw mango

Roast these for 5 mins and make a dry paste



Procedure


  • Heat oil in a Kadai, add mustard, when it starts crackling add curry leaves, chana dal, urad dal, peanuts and fry till the nuts turn light brown and crisp

  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli bits and ground paste. Fry for a while and add the cooked rice

  • Add salt to taste and toss well. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

  • Serve hot with raita or wafers.
