Andhra Tomato Pappu





Ingredients


1/2 cup boiled Toor dal

2 finely chopped tomatoes

4 finely chopped garlic cloves

2 broken red chillies

1 tsp mustard

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

curry leaves

1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera

1/2 tsp turmeric powder/ Haldi

1/2 tsp pepper powder

4-5 tsp oil

Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Salt to taste


o be ground into a fine paste:

3 tbsp fresh coconut

2 green chillies

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Make a fine paste of the above ingredients and keep it aside.




Procedure


  • In a pan heat oil, add mustard, curry leaves, once it starts crackling, add chopped garlic and fry

  • Once the garlic becomes brown, add jeera, red chilies, jeera, turmeric powder, and chopped tomatoes

  • Fry till the tomatoes are cooked well

  • Add red chilli powder and pepper powder and fry for 2 mins

  • Put the ground paste and fry a little

  • Add the boiled dal, salt to taste and water to adjust the consistency

  • Once the dal is boiled garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
