Ingredients
1/2 cup thick poha/ dappa avalakki
1/4 cup fried gram/ putani/hurigadale
1 bowl of rice flour
1 tsp ajwain/ Carrom seeds
1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
1 tsp white sesame seeds/til
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
Hot water to knead the dough (approximately 1 1/2 cups)
Procedure
Put poha and fried gram in a pan and dry roast for 5 minutes or till it turns crisp.
Powder it in a mixer jar once it comes to room temperature. Seive the powder and put it in a bowl.
Add the other ingredients and mix well. Now add the water gradually and knead it into a soft dough.
Heat oil in a pan. Put the prepared dough in a chakli maker and make murukku directly in hot oil.
Deep fry the murukku till it turns crisp and golden brown in color.
Store them on absorbent paper in an airtight container once it comes to room temperature.
