Avalakki Rava Rotti / Beaten rice Semolina Rotti

This is a very simple and healthy recipe. Only two ingredients like poha/beaten rice and rava/ fine semolina are used with some veggies and spices in this. Very healthy and tasty rotti. Healthy and tasty breakfast.







Ingredients


1 cup thick poha/Gatti avalakki

1/2 cup fine rava/semolina

2-3 chopped green chillies

1/2 cup grated carrots

1/2 cup chopped onions

1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds

2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

1 tbsp chopped curry leaves

Salt to taste

Oil to smear on rotti




Procedure


  • Wash the beaten rice, drain the water and keep it covered for a minimum of half an hour, then knead it well or run it in the mixie by sprinkling little water

  • Add all the other ingredients except oil and combine everything well by kneading again OR

  • Powder the beaten rice in the mixer, transfer the powder into a bowl, add all the other ingredients except oil and knead the dough using water and keep it covered for a minimum of half an hour

  • Grease the tawa or butter paper, Pinch a portion of the dough, and spread it evenly with wet fingers ( keep a bowl of water by the side and dip your finger whenever necessary ) You can also use banana leaf.

  • Cook on both sides by smearing little oil.

  • Serve hot rotti with coconut chutney or pickle or chutney pudi /powder.

  • You can add any veggies like capsicum, cabbage, cucumber, chopped palak, methi, etc.
