Ingredients
1 cup rice
2 small onions sliced
5-6 tsp ghee or oil
1/2 cup chopped methi/fenugreek leaves
1/4 cup avarekaalu/ hyacinth beans
2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves
For the masala paste:
2 cloves/lavang
small piece of cinnamon/dalchini
1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera
1/2 inch ginger piece
5 garlic cloves
1/4 cup coriander leaves
Grind the above ingredients into a fine paste
Procedure
Wash and soak rice in water for 20 mins
In cooker heat oil, saute onion slices till they turn pinkish
Add the masala paste and fry till the raw smell goes
Drop-in chopped methi leaves and fry for 5 mins
Put the hyacinth beans, turmeric pdr,garam masala pdr, and stir for a minute
Drain water from the rice and add to it, fry for 5 mins
Add salt to taste, lemon juice, and 2 cups water, mix well and close the lid
Cook for 2-3 whistles, once the steam is released open the lid and mix gently
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with raita of your choice.
