This is an authentic, traditional Maharashtrian dish. Spicy and tasty potato recipe, which is prepared with a minimum of ingredients and very easy to prepare. You can pair this with roti or steamed rice.
Ingredients
2 medium-size potatoes
1/4 cup coconut gratings
1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
2 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp oil
2 tsp ghee
2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
1/4 tsp Haldi / Turmeric powder
Pinch of Hing/asafoetida powder
Curry leaves chopped
1/2 tsp lemon juice
Procedure
Boil the potatoes in the cooker for only two whistles. Do not overcook the potatoes.
Peel and cut into chunks. Marinate the potato chunks with salt, red chilli powder, coconut gratings and chopped coriander leaves. Keep covered for 10 minutes.
Heat oil and ghee in a nonstick pan. Put cumin seeds,hing, chopped curry leaves and turmeric powder.
Saute for a second and add the marinated potatoes.
Give a nice mix and cook on a low flame for 10-15 minutes.
Serve hot with roti or steamed rice.
