Cabbage Butthi





Ingredients

1 cup finely chopped cabbage

1 potato cut into small cubes

2 finely chopped onions

5 tsp oil

Salt to taste


For the masala paste:

3/4 cup grated fresh coconut

1/2 tsp coriander seeds

4-5 red chillies roasted in little oil

Chick pea-size tamarind

Grind these ingredients into a semi coarse paste using little water




Procedure


  • Wash the chopped cabbage and potato, add a little salt and 1/2 cup water and cook in a cooker for one or two whistles

  • In a pan heat oil and saute chopped onions until light brown

  • Add the masala paste and fry for 5 mins

  • Now drop in the boiled cabbage and potato, salt to taste and mix well

  • Cook it till it becomes dry or for 5 to 10 mins

  • Serve hot with rice and dal or roti or dosa.

  • You can substitute cabbage with gobi, mushroom or Kabuli chana.
