DALITHOY is a typical Konkani style dal, prepared with a generous amount of hing/ asafoetida. Very simple and easy to make the dish.
Ingredients
1 cup toor dal /Arhar dal
2-3 green chillies slit
Generous amount of hing/ asafoetida
Salt to taste
For the tempering:
3 tsp oil or ghee
2 tsp mustard
curry leaves
3 broken red chillies
Procedure
Wash and soak dal in 2 cups water for 20 mins
Put the dal, green chillies in cooker with water and cook it for 3-4 whistles or till it is cooked well
Transfer the cooked dal n a vessel, hing add salt to taste, water if needed
Make it boil for 5 mins, add the tempering with the ingredients mentioned
Serve hot with rice.
