This Mangalorean Style Rava Seer / King Fish Fry is coastal India’s claim to fame. Its a crunchy fried fish recipe but there is so much more to it than what meets the eye! The flavor beneath the crunchy rava layer is delicious because of the magical spice that hits you with the first bite!
Ingredients
5 sliced king fish / surmai / anjal / visonu
1/2 cup chiroti rava
Coconut Oil for cooking fish (or any other refined oil )
For the red chilli paste 15 byadgi red chillies Pea size hing / asafoetida Salt to taste Grind the above ingredients into a smooth, thick paste, adding little water
Procedure
Wash and clean the fish slices. Apply 1 tsp salt and keep aside
Add 3 tsp corn flour and one tsp lemon juice to the ground chilli paste and mix well
Marinate the fish slices with the paste according to your taste and keep in the fridge.
Heat tava with 2 tsp oil. To this add the the marinated fish slices rolled in rava.
Cook the fish on a medium flame until both the sides become crisp and the fish is well cooked.
Serve hot with steamed rice and dal.
You can store the leftover chilli paste in the freezer
