Garlic Red Chutney

This is a spicy red chutney which we spread all over the dosa while it is still cooking on dosa pan. A chutney that is rich with red chilli and garlic flavors. This chutney is spread mostly on Mysore Masala Dosa. There is another plain masala dosa without the spread of red chutney. But for now, let us learn how to make the spicy (and tempting) red chutney for masala dosa.





Ingredients

2 roughly chopped onions

3-4 garlic cloves

5-6 byadgi red chillies

2 tsp roasted gram/hurigadale/putani

1 tsp oil

chickpea size tamarind

Salt to taste

Pinch of jaggery to taste (optional)




Procedure

  • Heat oil in a pan, roast onions, garlic cloves, and red chillies for 5 minutes.

  • Let it cool. Once it becomes cool, grind them with the other ingredients and make a fine paste.

  • Your chutney is ready to use.
