Gulla Talasani

Gulla is a special variety of brinjal grown in a village called Mattu in Udupi District, South Karnataka. This is a simple stir fry of brinjal and drumsticks, that goes well with hot rice and dal.





Ingredients


2 Gullas / brinjal

2 drumsticks

5 tsp oil

4 broken dry red chillies

8-10 crushed garlic cloves

Salt to taste




Procedure


  • Wash and cut the brinjal into medium size chunks

  • Wash and remove the outer skin of the drumsticks and cut into 2-inch pieces

  • In a pan heat oil and put the crushed garlic cloves and fry till light brown

  • When it is almost done add broken red chillies and saute for a minute and add cut brinjal, drumsticks

  • Add salt to taste,1/2 cup water and cook with a lid covered

  • Cook till both the veggies are cooked and water is evaporated

  • Serve hot with rice and dal.
