Sasive or Sasmi is nothing but a curd + coconut-based raitha recipe. This is served as an accompaniment with rice. Generally, this will be one of the side dishes in a multicourse meal. This type of sasive is in practice across the Malnadu and Karavali regions of Karnataka.
Ingredients
4 uddina Khara happala/ urad dal spicy papad
1/4 cup fresh curd
For the masala paste:
1/2 cup fresh coconut gratings
1/2 green chilli
1/2 tsp mustard
Salt to taste
Grind these above ingredients into a smooth paste like chutney.
For the tempering:
2 tsp coconut or any refined oil
1 tsp mustard
Few curry leaves
Procedure
Roast the papad in the microwave or on gas. Crush it and keep it aside.
Put the ground paste in a bowl. Add curds and mix well. Add water or some more curd and adjust the consistency as per your taste.
Temper it with the ingredients mentioned. Add the roasted and crushed papad just before serving.
