Ingredients
2 cups basmati rice
6 tsp ghee or oil
1/2 cup green peas
1 tsp garam masala
2 sliced onions
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1tsp lime juice
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing
For the green masala paste:
1 cup chopped coriander leaves
3 green chillies
1/2 inch ginger
4 garlic cloves
grind these into a fine paste.
Procedure
In a cooker put oil and saute sliced onions till translucent
Add the ground paste and fry well
Add turmeric powder and garam masala
Put washed rice and fry for 5 minutes
Add lime juice, salt to taste, green peas and 3 1/2 cups of water
Close the lid and take 2 whistles
After the steam is released open the cooker and garnish rice with chopped coriander leaves
Serve hot with raita.
