This is a quick, tasty and soft dosa recipe. This sponge dosa can be prepared in just 10 minutes. This instant dosa or quick sponge dosa is prepared using Rava, beaten rice (avalakki), and curd (mosaru). This is a very useful recipe and no-fermentation required.
Ingredients
1 cup medium Rava (upma rava)
1/2 cup thick poha or 3/4 cup thin poha/ avalakki / beaten rice
1/2 cup curd
1.25 cup water
1/2 tsp cooking soda
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking dosa
Procedure
Put poha/ beaten rice in a vessel, rinse well. Add in rava. You can use medium or fine rava.
Next, add water and curds. Give a good mix, let it rest for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes of soaking transfer it into a blender and grind into a smooth batter.
Add in salt and cooking soda, mix it well,
Adjust the consistency of the batter to normal dosa batter consistency. Add water if needed.
Heat dosa pan and pour a ladle full of batter and slightly spread it.
Drizzle with little oil, cover, and cook for 10 seconds.
Flip the dosa and cook on the other side as well. Please note that cooking on the other side is optional'
Serve hot dosa with chutney, sambar, or saagu.
You can also make an onion uthappam with the same batter.
