Kathal Ke Kofte / Raw Jackfruit Kofta Curry





Ingredients


For Kofta:

1 cup Kathal/ Raw jackfruit cut into cubes (boiled n mashed)

2 small potatoes (boiled n mashed)

2 green chillies finely chopped

1/2 tsp crushed ginger and garlic

1 tbsp cornflour or bread crumbs

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

1 tsp roasted cumin powder

chopped coriander leaves

salt to taste

Oil for deep frying

4 tsp cornflour for outer coating


For the masala paste:

1 chopped onion

1 chopped tomato

4 garlic cloves

1/2 inch ginger

8 cashewnuts

Grind the above ingredients and make a fine paste.


For the tempering:


3 tsp oil

1 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp Kasuri methi

2 tbsp curd

2 tsp fresh cream

Salt to taste

Chopped coriander leaves




Procedure

  • Mix the ingredients no 1 to 9 and make equal balls/koftas

  • Roll each kofta in corn flour and deep fry into crisp and brown colour koftas and keep aside

  • In a Kadai heat oil and put cumin seeds

  • Add the ground masala paste and fry till the raw smell disappears.

  • Add chilli powder, Garam masala powder, curd, salt to taste and little water

  • Boil the gravy and add Kasuri methi and fresh cream and stir well

  • Add koftas and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

  • Serve hot with roti, naan or phulkas.
