Ingredients
2 cups cooked rice
Salt to taste
1 tsp mustard
2 tsp chana dal
2 tbsp peanuts
1/2 tsp turmeric powder/Haldi
1 small onion chopped
2 red chillies cut into bits
2 tsp lemon juice
Chopped coriander leaves
For the masala:
1/2 cup fresh coconut gratings
2-3 byadgi red chillies
1 1/2 tsp coriander seeds/ dhaniya
1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera
Small piece jaggery (optional)
Grind the above ingredients into a coarse paste, without adding water.
Procedure
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard. Once it crackles, add curry leaves, chana dal and peanuts.
Once it turns light brown add chopped onions, red chilli bits and turmeric powder.
Fry the masala for 2-3 minutes, add salt to taste and cooked rice.
Add lemon juice and mix well. Turn off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
