Moong dal Murukku






Ingredients


1cup moong dal/skinless split green gram/hesaru bele

3 cups maida/all-purpose flour

2 cups water

Salt to taste

3 tsp sesame seeds/til

1/2 tsp hing/asafoetida

2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds




Procedure

  • Cook moong dal in cooker with 2 cups water for 3-4 whistles, till it becomes soft

  • Mash the dal with a spoon and keep in a bowl

  • Take maida in a cotton cloth and tie the knot, keep it in a steamer and steam it for 20 mins

  • Transfer the maida to a bowl, roll it with your hands, once it comes to room temperature mix dal and all other ingredients

  • Add little water only if needed

  • Heat oil and make chakli or murukku,deep fry into the golden brown crisp murukku

  • Put the fried murukku on tissue paper and store it in an airtight container once it comes to room temperature.
