Mulik / Jackfruit fritters is a delicacy from Udupi, Mangalore. Ponsa Mulik in Konkani is sweet jackfruit fritters, which are crisp on the outside and soft inside. You can store these for up to a week and can be enjoyed as a snack, at any time of the day. These are perfect to satisfy your sweet cravings.
Ingredients
10-12 jackfruit segments /halasina soLe
1/4 cup semolina / Fine rava
1/2 cup dosa rice
1/2 cup coconut gratings
1/2 cup powdered jaggery (or to taste)
Pinch of salt
Oil for deep frying
Procedure
Soak rice in water for one hour. Deseed the jackfruit segments and finely chop them, keep them aside.
Wash the soaked rice and drain out all the water completely.
Take the mixer jar, first grind coconut gratings, salt, and jackfruit segments
Make a fine paste without adding any water. Now add jaggery powder and blend for a minute, add soaked rice, and grind it into a smooth to a little coarse paste.
Transfer the batter to a bowl, add semolina and mix well. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan, take a small portion of the batter, shape it into round balls, and drop into the hot oil.
Repeat with the remaining batter. Deep fry the fritters on low flame till they turn crisp.
Transfer the fried fritters to an absorbent paper. Serve hot and enjoy.
