Tambuli is a combination of curds and ground coconut paste with some spices and tempered with mustard and curry leaves. This is very common in North Karnataka brahmin's Menu. Any meal is incomplete without this Tambuli. This is something liquid like rasam to enjoy with hot rice especially in summer.
Ingredients
1/4 cup very tender drumstick leaves (nugge soppu /Mashinga sange pallo)
1/2 cup buttermilk
salt to taste
1/4 cup fresh grated coconut
2 tsp jeera(cumin seeds)
1/4 tsp peppercorns
1 tsp oil
For the tempering:
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
1 sprig of curry leaves
Pinch asafoetida
1 red chilli
Procedure
Wash and clean drumstick leaves
In a pan heat 1 tsp oil and roast leaves, pepper and jeera
Grind it with coconut,salt to a fine paste
Transfer it to a serving bowl, add buttermilk and 1/4 cup water
Add the tempering and serve chilled with hot rice.
