Open masala Appo / Masala Stuffed Paddu






Ingredients

1 cup urad dal

2 cups dosa rice

1 tsp methi seeds

2 bread slices

salt to taste

oil for cooking


For the stuffing:

2 tsp oil

1/4 cup grated carrot

1/4 cup boiled green peas

2 chopped onions

2 crushed green chillies

2 tsp chopped coriander leaves

Salt to taste



Procedure

  • Soak urad dal, dosa rice and methi seeds in water for 5- 6 hours

  • Grind this with 2 slices of bread to a smooth batter

  • Ferment the batter for 7-8 hrs or overnight, add salt to taste and mix well.

  • To make the stuffing In a pan heat oil and saute onions, green chillies for 2 minutes

  • Add grated carrot, green peas, salt and cook for 5 minutes

  • Add chopped coriander leaves.

  • Heat appe/paniyaram pan put the batter in each cavity. Put around 2-3 tsp of the stuffing over the paddu/appo and cook it on both sides, adding oil.

  • Serve hot with coconut chutney
