Palak Sanna Khotto

Sanna khotto is a spicy rice dumpling, steamed in jackfruit leaves cups. You can substitute palak with cabbage or fenugreek leaves. This goes well with hot rice and dal, topped with coconut oil.




Ingredients

1cup dosa rice

1/4 cup moong/ green gram

1 cup grated coconut

7-8 red chillies roasted in little oil

1 tsp hing/ asafoetida

Salt to taste

1 cup finely chopped palak/ spinach leaves




Procedure


  • Soak rice, moong in enough water for 2-3 hrs and then wash it

  • Grind coconut, red chilies , salt first, then add soaked rice, moong, and grind into a semi-thick and little coarse consistency batter

  • Transfer it to a bowl, add hing and chopped palak, mix well, check salt

  • Heat idli steamer, fill the prepared ber in jackfruit leaf baskets or idli molds, and steam for 15 to 20 mins

  • Serve hot smeared with coconut oil with hot rice and dal.
