Parippu Vada

Parippu Vada or Dal vada to describe in three simple words -spicy, crunchy, and yummy. It is one of the most favorite dishes of Kerala food lovers.




Ingredients

1 cup chana dal/ Bengal gram

4 green chillies finely chopped

2 onions finely chopped

1-inch ginger finely chopped

2 sprigs of curry leaves chopped

2 tblsp mint leaves finely chopped

2 tblsp coriander leaves chopped

Salt to taste

Oil for deep frying




Procedure


  • Soak dal in water for 2 hrs, wash and drain water (make sure that it is drained well)

  • Grind dal in to semi coarse paste, transfer it into a bowl(dont add water)

  • Add all the other ingredients to the batter, mix well

  • Heat oil, make your hands wet and make equal size balls with the mixture

  • Make the balls as a round shape by pressing them with your palm

  • Deep fry vadas on a medium flame until it becomes crisp and brown

  • Serve hot with chutney and a hot cup of tea or coffee.
