Pesarattu

Pesarattu, Pesara Attu, Pesara dosa, or Cheeldo is a crepe-like bread, originating in Andhra Pradesh, India, that is similar to dosa. It is made with green gram batter, but, unlike dosa, it does not contain urad dal. Pesarattu is eaten as breakfast and as a snack in Andhra Pradesh.



Ingredients


1 cup moong/green gram/ hesaru Kalau

1/2 cup dosa rice/ raw rice

2 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera

1/2 inch ginger

1-2 green chilies

Salt to taste

Oil for cooking dosa


For the topping:

2 finely chopped onions

1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves

In 1 tsp oil saute chopped onions with little salt only for 2 mins, add chopped coriander leaves, and keep aside

You can also micro it for 2 mins




Procedure

  • Soak rice, moong in water for 2-3 hrs, wash and grind with ginger, green chilies, and cumin seeds into a fine batter, add salt to taste

  • No fermentation is required for this dosa

  • Heat Tava, take a ladle full batter and spread a thin dosa

  • Spread saute onion, coriander leaves mixture on the dosa

  • Press a little with the ladle, add oil and cook till it becomes crisp

  • Serve hot with coconut chutney.
