Ingredients
15 prawns cleaned and deveined
5 tsp coconut oil /any cooking oil
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
1 sprig of curry leaves
1 slit green chilli
2 finely chopped onions
1 finely chopped tomato
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander/ dhania powder
1/2 tsp turmeric/ Haldi powder
1/4 tsp pepper/ kali Mirch powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 cup coconut milk
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves
Marinate prawns with:
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp turmeric/Haldi powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Keep aside for 20 minutes.
Procedure
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard. Let it crackle. Add jeera, curry leaves. Saute for a second.
Add chopped onions, a little salt and saute till they turn transparent.
Tip in the chopped tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes off.
Now add all the spice powders and saute for a minute. Drop in the marinated prawns, coconut milk and salt if needed.
Give a stir and let it boil for 5 minutes or till the prawns are done.
Turn off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with ghee rice or appam, idiyappam, dosa or idli. Also tastes yummy with steaming hot plain rice.
