Punjabi Mushroom Masala





Ingredients

10 button mushrooms

1/2 tsp +1 tsp red chilli pdr

1/2 tsp turmeric pdr

1 tsp coriander pdr

1 tsp Kitchen King masala or any garam masala

1 bay leaf

1 tsp cumin seeds

5 tsp oil

1/4 cup milk

1 tsp Kasuri methi

1/4cup chopped capsicum

Salt to taste

Chopped coriander leaves


For the onion paste:

1 onion roughly chopped

4 garlic cloves

1/2 inch ginger

1 roughly chopped tomato

Make a fine paste of the above ingredients and keep aside




Procedure

  • Wash the mushrooms and cut them into 4 pieces

  • Marinate with a little salt,1/2 tsp red chilli pdr and turmeric pdr and keep for 15 mins

  • In a pan heat oil, add cumin seeds,tejpata and fry

  • Put the onion tomato paste and fry till the raw smell disappears

  • Add the capsicum cubes and cook for 5 mins

  • Add the spice powders and fry for a minute, followed by marinated mushrooms and salt to taste

  • Cook with a lid covered, once the mushrooms are done add the milk, Kasuri methi and cook for another 5 mins

  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves

  • Serve hot with rice or rotis.
