Sajjige Rotti with Onion

Sajjige (semolina as it is called in Kannada in Mangalore) Rotti (pancake) is a typical Mangalorean breakfast/tea time snack that is prepared in homes and available in tea stalls (hotels) too. This is also called Rava Bhakri. Adding onion is totally optional. Without onion also it tastes awesome.

3 tbsp wheat flour

1 cup freshly grated coconut

Salt to taste

Sugar to taste

1/2 inch crushed ginger

2 crushed green chillies

2 small onions finely chopped

2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves

Oil for cooking dosa

Procedure

  • In a bowl mix all the ingredients (except oil)

  • Add water as required to make a semi-thick batter

  • Mix well and keep aside for 15 mins

  • Heat Tava put one handful of batter and spread pat it with your fingers to give a shape of Bhakri / dosa

  • Cook both sides, adding 2-3 tsp oil

  • Serve hot with fresh butter.

  • You can prepare the same without onion too.
