Taikilo or Cassia Tora leaves or Chegate soppu is often seen only in monsoon season. We prepare varieties of dishes with these leaves like taikile muddo / steamed dumplings, Taikile tambli, Taikile sanna polo / spicy dosa, etc. All these dishes go well with rice and dalithoy.
Ingredients
1 cup dosa rice
3 tbsp roasted urad dal powder
5-6 tsp red chilli powder
Salt to taste
1.5 cups finely chopped Taikilo/ Tora leaves
Procedure
Soak rice in water for 2-3 hrs, wash well
Dry roast urad dal till light brown, make a fine powder and keep aside
Clean the greens and wash well, chop finely and keep aside
Grind rice with salt into a thick paste using very little water
Keep the batter a little coarse
Put the batter in a bowl, add chilli powder as per your taste, chopped greens and roasted dal powder
Mix well, heat oil. Make round balls with the batter, flatten it a little and deep fry on a medium flame
Fry till it becomes brown and crisp
Serve hot with rice and dal
