Crunchy cucumbers in a spicy coconut chutney is a nice combo, with a flavourful seasoning to elevate it. This dish is called Taushe Sasam in Konkani.Taushe means cucumber and sasam refers to a coconut chutney ground using mustard seeds. Sasam literally means mustard seeds in Konkani. This is served for lunch or dinner as a side dish. It is pretty simple and easy to make.
Ingredients
1 cucumber/taushe
1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
1 roasted red chilli
1 green chilli
1 tsp mustard+ 1/2 tsp for tempering
little tamarind
Salt to taste
2 tsp oil
Curry leaves
Procedure
Wash and peel the cucumber
Finely chop cucumber and green chilli
Grind coconut, mustard, red chilli and tamarind to a fine paste
Add the ground masala to the cucumber and adjust the consistency adding water according to your taste(semi-solid)
Temper with mustard and curry leaves
