Thondekayi Palya






Ingredients

250 gms Tondekai / Ivygourd

3 tsp oil

curry leaves

1 tsp mustard

1 tsp urad dal

2 tsp sambar powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp tamarind pulp

Salt to taste

Little jaggery (optional)




Procedure


  • Grind coconut with sambar powder and tamarind to a coarse masala

  • Take oil in Kadai add mustard

  • When it crackles add curry leaves, urad dal, turmeric powder

  • Add gherkins cut into 4 pieces(lengthwise)

  • Add little water, cover with the lid and cook it

  • When it is cooked add masala, salt to taste and stir well

  • Serve with roti or rice.
