Tomato Rasam





Ingredients


1/4 boiled toor dal

2 chopped tomatoes

2 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp peppercorns

1 lemon sized tamarind soaked in water

Salt to taste

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp asafoetida/ hing powder

2 tsp rasam powder

1 sprig curry leaf

2 tsp ghee

1 tsp mustard

chopped coriander leaves




Procedure

  • Take 4-5 cups water in a vessel, put the tamarind pulp, turmeric pdr, and hing

  • Boil it for5 mins and then add chopped tomatoes, curry leaves, and rasam powder

  • Cook till tomatoes become soft, add cooked dal n mix well

  • Boil for another 10 mins and add chopped coriander leaves and switch off the gas

  • Coarsely grind cumin seeds and peppercorns

  • Take ghee in a pan, put mustard, when it crackles add pepper, cumin powder and remove from the flame

  • Pour the tadka into the rasam and serve hot with hot rice.
