Uppu Dosa Odu Rotti is a dosa popular in the Coastal Karnataka region. It is a thick, soft, and spongy dosa, Cooked only one side. In an authentic odu dosa, also called vodu dosa, we don’t use oil while making dosa. It is typically done on a clay tawa or cast iron Tawa.
Ingredients
2 cups dosa rice
1 cup grated coconut
1/2 cup cooked rice
1/2 tsp cooking soda
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking dosa
Procedure
Soak rice in water for 5-6 hrs, wash well and grind with grated coconut and cooked rice into a smooth batter
Keep the batter covered in a warm place for fermentation, overnight
Next day, add salt, cooking soda, mix well
Heat Tava and put a ladle full of batter and spread it slightly, put 1 tsp oil and cover with a lid
Cook on a medium flame till the dosa is cooked
Serve dosa with chutney or any other spicy curry.
