Ingredients
1 cup basmati rice, washed and soaked in water for 20 mins
6 tsp oil or ghee
1 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
3 onions
1/4 cup green peas
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
2 tsp home made garam masala powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Salt to taste
Procedure
Heat oil or ghee in a cooker, add jeera, sliced onions and saute until it turns light brown
Add ginger-garlic paste and fry well
Drain water from the rice and add to the browned onions
Fry rice for 2-3 mins
Add chopped coriander leaves, green peas, salt, red chilli powder and garam masala powder
Mix well and add 1.5 cups water, close the lid of the cooker and cook for 2 whistles
Once the steam is released open the lid and mix the rice gently
Serve hot with any raita
