Vatanache Pulav / Green Peas Pulav





Ingredients

1 cup basmati rice, washed and soaked in water for 20 mins

6 tsp oil or ghee

1 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds

1 tsp ginger garlic paste

3 onions

1/4 cup green peas

1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves

2 tsp home made garam masala powder

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

Salt to taste




Procedure

  • Heat oil or ghee in a cooker, add jeera, sliced onions and saute until it turns light brown

  • Add ginger-garlic paste and fry well

  • Drain water from the rice and add to the browned onions

  • Fry rice for 2-3 mins

  • Add chopped coriander leaves, green peas, salt, red chilli powder and garam masala powder

  • Mix well and add 1.5 cups water, close the lid of the cooker and cook for 2 whistles

  • Once the steam is released open the lid and mix the rice gently

  • Serve hot with any raita
