Vendekai Mor kozambo / Majjige huli





Ingredients


25 gms bhindi/ okra/ lady's fingers

2 tsp oil

1/2 cup curds

Salt to taste


For the masala:

3/4cup grated fresh coconut

2 small green chillies

1 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds

1/2 tsp turmeric / haldi powder

2 tsp roasted dal /Putani

Grind these ingredients into a fine paste and keep aside


For the tempering:

2 tsp oil

1 tsp mustard

1 broken red chilli

1 sprig of curry leaves

1/2 tsp hing/ asafoetida powder





Procedure

  • Wash, wipe and cut the ends of bhindis and chop them into 1 inch long pieces

  • In a pan heat oil and roast bhindis with little salt till it is cooked

  • Transfer it to a vessel, add the masala,1/2 cup water, salt to taste, and make it boil

  • Add the curds and give just one boil and add the tempering with the mentioned ingredients

  • Serve hot with the rice.
