Yeriyappa

Yeriappa is a traditional sweet delicacy necessarily made on the 7th day of Dussehra/Navaratri/Dasara festival ie… on the day of Saraswati Pooja, in Karnataka. This is a combination of rice, coconut, and jaggery, deep-fried in ghee or oil.





Ingredients


1 cup dosa rice

3 tsp Toor dal

1/4 cup poha or puffed paddy

1/4 cup grated coconut

3/4 cup jaggery

Salt 1/2 tsp

1 tsp cardamom powder

oil or ghee for frying




Procedure


  • Soak rice and dal for 4-5 hours and grind to a fine paste with coconut, jaggery, salt

  • Add cardamom powder

  • Batter consistency should be like dosa batter

  • Heat oil and put around2 tbsp of batter

  • Turn it after 3-4 minutes and take out with the help of 2 ladles, pressing it tightly.

  • Transfer it on an absorbent paper. Serve hot.
